Welcome to Module 3!
In this Lesson,
we will talk about different parts of the body in English.
Knowing these words will help you speak with patients from other countries.
When you use the right words, your patients will feel more comfortable, and you can answer their questions easily.
Good communication helps everyone in the clinic.
Lesson Goals:
-
Learn and remember the English words for many parts of the body.
-
Practice saying, hearing, and reading these words.
-
Ask simple, polite questions about body areas.
Why is this important?
When you know the English words for body parts, you can:
-
Understand what the patient is talking about.
-
Answer patient questions.
-
Give clear information.
-
Make the patient feel safe and understood.
Body Areas Vocabulary
Let’s practice the names of body areas in English.
For each card, read the word, look at the image, and read a simple sentence about how the word might be used in a clinic setting, by flipping the card.
You can also listen to the audio for each word to help with pronunciation.
This will help you remember and use these words when you talk to patients.
Example Questions Around Body Parts:
Try these examples when you want to ask about body areas politely.
-
“Would you like to talk about your eyes?”
-
“Do you have any questions about your mouth or chin?”
-
“Should we discuss your neck or shoulders?”
-
“Would you like to talk about your back?”
- “Do you want to talk about your legs or knees?”

Patient: Thank you.
Staff: What would you like to discuss today?
Patient: I would like to talk about my hair and skin, please.
Staff: Of course. We can talk about them. Please take a seat.

Short Conversation Example 2:

Staff: Good morning!
Patient: Good morning.
Staff: What would you like to discuss today please?
